Information and Communications Technology - A & AS Level

What will I need?

5 GCSEs at grade A*-C to include Mathematics and English Language. The most important factor is a keen interest in computing

Presenting Information

This requires you to use ICT hardware and software applications to produce:

  • A document such as a leaflet or a magazine
  • A document containing automated routines such as a mail merged letter
  • A presentation to an audience, such as a web page or slide type show

Relational Databases

You will produce a relational database project. The database project does not have to be based in actual commercial context but you are encouraged to develop a realistic system.

How will I be taught?

Lessons and lectures are underpinned by tutorial support and seminar presentations, assignments, individual study, group discussion, projects and Interactive Learning Technologies (ILT)

How will I be assessed?

Ongoing assessment of coursework, projects and formal examinations

Where will it take me?

This qualification provides a suitable foundation for the study of the ICT or a related area through a range of Higher Education courses, Vocational courses, (e.g. Information Technology, Information Systems, and Business Computing) or direct entry into employment.
