Psychology - A & AS Level
LEVEL 3
What will I need?
5 GCSEs at grade A*-C to include Science, English and Mathematics
What will I do?
A variety of different specialist areas will be covered, including:
Year 1 (AS Level)
15 core studies will be looked at, from areas including:
- Cognitive Psychology
- Developmental Psychology
- Physiological Psychology
- Social Psychology
- Individual Differences
Four mini research projects will be carried out, using four different types of data collection. A study of research methods and themes in Psychology will also be carried out.
Year 2 (A2 Level)
You will carry out a full piece of psychological research and will be studying two areas of applied psychology.
- Forensic Psychology
- Either Sport and Exercise psychology OR Health & Clinical psychology
How will I be taught?
Lessons and lectures are underpinned by tutorial support and seminar presentations, assignments, individual study, group discussion, projects and Interactive Learning Technologies (ILT)
Subjects that will fit with A Level Psychology – Law, Business Studies, Biology, Sociology
How will I be assessed?
Ongoing assessment of projects, classwork and homework plus formal examinations
Where will it take me?
Psychology is an ideal subject for anyone wishing to go on to higher education, or who may be interested in careers in the Police, the Prison Service, Care and Health Services, Local Government, Management or Education.
