Student Services Co-ordinator Sallie Gilbert
Now that you’ve applied, been interviewed and accepted your place at Stourbridge College you’ll be wondering what happens when you come along to enrol.
The following checklist will give you a brief overview of what will happen when you get here on the day.

And there’s a handy FAQs list which may help answer some of your questions before you get here.
ENROLMENT FAQs
Q – How long will it take?
A – There are a number of stages to the full-time enrolment process so expect to be with us for approximately 2 to 3 hours
Q – What do I need to bring?
A – The most important thing to bring with you is proof of your qualifications – your GCSE result, AS/A Level results or other qualifications as applicable. If you have been awarded EMA you will also need to bring your contract with you.
Q – Will I need to do any tests?
A – Yes. You’ll need to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment to enable us to ensure you’re fully supported in your chosen course. For some construction courses you may be required to take an additional trade test – some of you will have done this at interview stage so you won’t be required to do these again.
Q – Do I need to bring my parents along?
A – You don’t need to but they’re welcome to tag along if you want – we encourage parents’ involvement.
Q – Can I change a subject for A Levels?
A – Yes, you can change your mind during enrolment about the A Levels you want to study as long as you have gained the particular subjects entry requirements and there are no clashes of subject on your timetable.
Q – If my grades are different than predicted, can I enrol on a different course?
A – Yes – you can enrol on any course you choose as long as you’ve gained the entry requirements. There will be plenty of staff on hand to offer you advice and guidance if you’re not sure which course you want to study.
Q – What if I haven’t got the grades for my chosen course?
A – Come along to enrolment whatever your grades and, with support and guidance, we will help you to choose a course that’s right for you.
Q – Do I need to bring money along?
A – If you’re aged 16-18 by the end of August you will not need to pay for your course. If you’re aged 19 or above by the 1st September 2010 you will need to pay the college registration fee of £17.50 and you may be eligible to pay course fees.
Q – Where is enrolment?
A – All full-time enrolment sessions will take place at the Hagley Road Centre regardless of where you’re studying.
