What will I need?
5 GCSE’s at Grade A* - C (inc. English & Maths)
OR Level 2 IT Qualification at Merit (plus English & Maths GCSE or equiv)
A keen interest in IT & Computing
How long is the course?
Two years
What will I do?
The course is made up of 18 units. There are 6 compulsory core units and 12 specialist units. The 12 specialist units are chosen to allow the candidates to study particular areas in depth.
The Core Units Are:
- Communication and Employability Skills for IT
- Computer Systems
- Information Systems
- Organisational Systems Security
- e-Commerce
- Impact of the Use of IT on Business Systems
The Specialist Units Will Include:
- Developing Computer Games
- Event Driven Programming
- Website Production & Management
- Digital Graphics and Computers
- Computer Animation
What are the outcomes?
The course is worth three full A Levels.
How will I be taught?
Lessons and lectures are underpinned by tutorial support and seminar presentations, assignments, individual study, group discussion, projects and Interactive Learning Technologies (ILT)
How will I be assessed?
Ongoing assessment of coursework, assignments and projects
Where could it take me?
Successful candidates can progress to our Higher National Diploma in Computing, to a degree program in university or to a career in many possible areas of IT or Computing.
