Maintenance Operations - Apprenticeship
LEVEL 2
What will I need?
4 GCSE’s grade D-G or above including Mathematics, English and Science
Practical work is carried out in a workshop environment, therefore protective clothing and footwear is essential.
Do I need to have a job?
To study under a full apprenticeship scheme you need to be employed within the industry.
If you are unable to find suitable employment you may be able to study under the Programme Lead Apprenticeship (PLA) scheme which allows you to study three days per week at college for up to six months and we will assist you in finding a suitable work placement.

How long is the course?
Between 18 and 24 months
What will I do?
NVQ
The qualification consists of a portfolio of evidence covering the units below.
- Conform to general workplace safety
- Conform to efficient working practices
- Moving and handling resources
- Confirm Work Activities and Resources for the Work
- Erect and dismantle access/working platforms
- Clear site and hand over on completion
- Provide Customer Service in Construction
Technical Certificate
Training on your day release at college will cover underpinning knowledge of Maintenance Operations. The qualification that you will need to achieve is Diploma in Maintenance Operations.
Key Skills
The qualification covers the Application of Number, and Communication. The units consist of a portfolio and test dependant upon GCSE results.
How will I be taught?
Training at college may be delivered on a day-release basis, with practical industrial experience being gained in the workplace.
The college day will be structured to give a broad foundation of knowledge in all aspects of Maintenance Operations through directed tuition and assignments to cover both practical and theoretical project work.
How will I be assessed?
Practical assessment is ongoing throughout the course. You will also build a portfolio of all relevant work- based evidence. You will also need to complete on line testing
Where will it take me?
On Successful completion of your apprenticeship you may be able to progress to other industrially recognised qualifications.
