Certificate in Life Skills
This programme is intended for adult learners who have progressed from other courses or who are returning to learning and wish to take a full time course.
What will I need?
There are no formal entry requirements. Places will be allocated following a successful interview.
How long is the course?
A 34-week programme, an average of 15 hours per week
What will I do?
You will take a qualification towards life skills and/or work skills. The programme encourages you to take responsibility for yourself and to socialise and mix appropriately with others. You may also take part in a work experience placement.
Assisted Continuing Education students are undertaking learning with a view to progressing to further studies on vocational programmes, independent living or employment.
For those who do not travel independently there is a highly successful travel training programme that is tailored to suit individual needs
You may follow a full time programme or select options for part time study.
How will I be taught?
You will be taught in small supported groups. The full time course is set up to run for two years - you must successfully complete Year One to progress onto Year Two. You will be supported in small group settings and individual needs are catered for.
How will I be assessed?
There are no formal examinations. Your work is assessed across each stage of the programme.
Where will it take me?
On successful completion of the course you may choose to continue your studies or you may choose to go directly into employment.
