Children’s Care, Learning and Development - Advanced Apprenticeship

LEVEL 3

What will I need?

Apprenticeship Level 2 – Early Years and a range of GCSEs to include English Language at grade D or above.

Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven commitment to care work. You should enjoy practical hands-on work and have the ability and motivation to work in a team.

A work placement is needed for Apprenticeship programmes; you need to be employed in a childcare setting.

How long is the course?

One year

What will I do?

Complete Level 3 units including:

  • Children’s Physical Needs/Physical Development, Social and Emotional Development
  • Sensory and Intellectual Development
  • Children’s Language and Communication Skills
  • Child Observation
  • Complete Technical Award
  • BTEC Technical Certificate in Children’s Care, Learning and Development

Key skills:

  • Communication – Level 2
  • Application of number – Level 2

You will attend College one day per week and spend four days in your work environment.

How will I be taught?

By childcare specialists. Practical learning linked to theory and development in childcare. You will produce a portfolio of evidence. You will be assessed in the workplace undertaking practical activities.

How will I be assessed?

A combination of assignments, a portfolio of evidence and practical assessment in the workplace

Where will it take me?

Level 3 is welcomed and sought by the childcare sector.
Employment opportunities are available working in schools and private day nurseries. You will also be able to work as a private nanny.
