Motor Vehicle Studies

City & Guilds 4101 Level 3 VRQ This course is an ideal stepping stone for a Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ)

LEVEL 3

What will I need?

Level 2 Motor Vehicle qualification.

How long is the course?

One year

What will I do?

This qualification is made up of ten units in which you will study:

  • Housekeeping
  • Reducing Risks at Work
  • Working Relationships
  • Diagnose and Rectify Chassis Faults
  • Diagnose and Rectify Engine Faults
  • Diagnose and Rectify Auxiliary Electrical System
  • Diagnose and Rectify Transmission Faults

Key skills are also taught as part of the course. The level 3 qualification is designed to develop the student's diagnostic abilities and look at more complex technology.

How will I be taught?

The course is practically based which together with delivery in classrooms will provide the necessary underpinning knowledge to give students an awareness of the technical requirements of vehicle maintenance and repair.

Learning will take place via a series of lectures, demonstrations, exercises, research and practical work in our workshops. There may also be visits to automotive manufactures during the year.

How will I be assessed?

Practical tasks and theory assessment

Where will it take me?

Candidates who are successful at Level 3 will be able to progress to a range of further education and professional body awards.

For example:

  • City & Guilds Level 4 Automotive qualifications and equivalents offered by other awarding bodies
  • Institute of Leadership and Management
  • Level 3 Supervisor or Level 4 Management Qualifications
  • Professional Institution membership
