Sport (Development, Coaching and Fitness) - BTEC National Diploma/Certificate

LEVEL 3

What will I need?

5 GCSEs at grade A*-C Including B in English, Science & PE Btec First Diploma - Merit or above

OR Other related Level 2 qualifications

Please note: It will be at the lecturers’ discretion as to which course you are accepted onto.

How long is the course?

Certificate: Two years - 12 modules
Diploma: Two years - 18 modules

  • Sports nutrition

  • Working with children
  • Practical individual sports
  • Analysis of sports performer
  • Talent identification
  • Work based experience
  • Sport as a business

You may have the opportunity to gain a range of additional qualifications:

  • Variety of Coaching Awards
  • First Aid Certificate
  • FA Coaching Award
  • CSLA/HSLA

How will I be taught?

Delivery of this course is vocationally-linked and is student-centred, providing opportunities for you to research independently.

A residential trip and a range of day trips form a large part of this course, which enhances your opportunity for independent research and learning. You will also participate in presentations and group work in addition to individual assignments/tasks.

How will I be assessed?

You will be set a variety of assessments including written, presentations, practical and role plays. There are no formal examinations for this course.

Where will it take me?

Successful completion of the BTEC National Certificate/Diploma will enable you to continue your learning and development within higher education or to seek employment within the sport and leisure industry.
