Travel & Tourism - BTEC National Certificate / Diploma

LEVEL 3

What will I need?

5 GCSEs at grade A*-C
OR Intermediate GNVQ in Leisure and Tourism at Merit level
OR BTEC First Diploma qualification in a related area of Tourism
OR Travel Industry Employment Skills Award Level 2

It will be at the lecturers’ discretion as to which course you are accepted onto.

How long is the course?

Two years – Full Time.

What will I do?

You will study Certificate 12 units, Diploma 18 units which include:

  • Long Haul Travel Destinations
  • Holiday Representatives
  • Retail and Business Travel Operations
  • Working with children in a holiday play setting
  • The Travel Industry
  • Events, Conferences and Exhibitions
  • The Cruise Sector

Additional qualifications

In order to give you the best opportunity in employment we offer a series of additional industry qualifications which include Handling Airport Passenger Services, Cabin Crew and First Aid.

You may have the opportunity to take an additional A Level in a language to accompany this course.

How will I be assessed?

A variety of assessment methods are used throughout which include presentations, written, practical and visits.

Where will it take me?

Successful completion of the BTEC will enable you to continue to university or into employment with the Travel and Tourism industry. For example, Travel Agent, Tour Operations, Cabin Crew, Ground Crew, Overseas Holiday Representative, Hotels, Conference and Banqueting.
