Entry requirements

 

AAT level 2 Certificate in Accounting (formerly AAT Foundation level)

  • No formal requirements but a good standard of English would be a benefit

AAT level 3 Diploma in Accounting (formerly AAT Intermediate level)

  • AAT Level 2 qualification (Certificate in Accounting, NVQ or Diploma pathway) OR
  • AS / A2 Accounts OR
  • Business Degree (see below for direct entry level 3 test) OR
  • 3 years of relevant accounting experience to include manual accounts (see below for direct entry level 3 test)

AAT level 4 Diploma in Accounting (formerly AAT Technician level)

  • AAT Level 3 qualification (Diploma in Accounting, NVQ or Diploma pathway)
  • Students who do not hold the full Level 3 qualification should contact the Course Co-ordinator (details above) to discuss your situation

Direct Entry
Direct entry to Level 3 either by Business Degree qualification or accounting experience should ensure that they have a good basic knowledge of the double entry system. To check that knowledge is sufficient please print the following file, work through the questions and send it into us for marking and feedback.

Brushing up on double entry can also be achieved by working through chapters 1 to 6 of Frank Woods Business Accounting 1, available from most libraries.

 

Time allocations and Venues

All sessions are to be held at the Hagley Road site unless otherwise stated.


Level 2:  All day Monday; Monday afternoon and evening; Monday and Wednesday evenings.

Level 3:  All day Wednesday; Wednesday afternoon and evening; Monday and Wednesday evenings.

Level 4:  All day Tuesday; Tuesday afternoon and evening; Tuesday evening (for 2yr study course).  Tuesday evening sessions will be held at the college’s Brierley Hill complex.  Please contact Course Co-ordinator for further details. All other sessions are held at the Hagley Road site.

 

AAT Fees for 2011 – 2012  (to be confirmed)

AAT Membership fees (paid directly to AAT)

  • Student admin fee approximately £36
  • Student registration approximately £76

Computer Based Assessment Fees payable, one week prior to sitting, to Stourbridge College:

  • Level 2: 5 Assessments approximately £160
  • Level 3: 7 Assessments approximately £250
  • Level 4: 7 Assessments approximately £266

These are the fees payable to the AAT for student registration and via Stourbridge College for computer based assessments.  The course fees payable to Stourbridge College will be available on the course information sheets.
