Battle of the Bands

A Battle of the Bands took place at Stourbridge College on Thursday 23rd April – four bands played to an enthusiastic audience ranging in age from 7 – 70. The bands represented both students from the college but also from various local schools, including Thorns Community College, Kingswinford School and Summerhill School. The youngest performers were only 14 years old and the oldest in their early 20s.

The standard of playing from all 4 bands was fantastic and the judges had a really hard time choosing a winner. Eventually they decided to award joint second place to Absinthe, Rage London and Drop the Decade, but the winning band was Ascendance, playing 5 of their own songs. Each of the bands have been offered a chance to record their work in the college recording studio.

There will be a repeat of this event for more bands taking place at the end of the year. Thank you to the BTEC National Diploma Year 1 students who arranged the event and made it run without any slip-ups. Thanks also go to the parents and friends who came and supported and made the event such a memorable one.
