British Colleges’ Sport (BCS)


British Colleges Sport is a member of the Central Council of Physical Recreation (CCPR) and aims to achieve excellence in the promotion of all aspects of sport and physical activity in the FE sector.

Stourbridge College’s affiliation to BCS provides the opportunity for students to participate in a wide range of both Regional and National events.

Sports competitions that are offered by BCS in the West Midlands Region include ( entry is either by team/individual/nomination depending on event):

    • Netball
    • Men & Women 5-a-side Football
    • Cross Country
    • Swimming
    • Golf
    • Athletics
    • Basketball
    • Cricket
    • Rounders
    • Trampolining
    • Rugby 7’s
    • Volleyball
    • Table Tennis
    • Hockey.

Students with excellent times/performances can also be selected by BCS to represent the West Midlands Region in the National Finals.

 

BCS Success Stories

  • Current Stourbridge College Sports Student Karl Quiney finished 5th in the West Midlands Regional Cross Country Competition with a time of 24.53 mins. As a result, Karl has been selected to represent the West Midlands Cross Country Team at the National British Colleges Sport event at Loughborough.
  • The Men’s 5-a-side Football Squad reached the semi finals of the West Midlands Regional 5-a-side competition, narrowly missing out on a place in the final. A great performance.
  • The Women’s 5-a-side Football Squad finished a respectable third in their group in Regional Competition, an excellent performance for their first event.
