Students keen to step inside the ring are in for a great year with the launch of the new venture, designed to offer young people the opportunity to gain sports-related and boxing qualifications whilst studying at college.

Packing a punch resources and national coaching have been lined up to hit the spot, all of which will be provided by the Lions Boxing Club, owned and run by Great Britain’s grade one Olympic coach Bob Dillon.

Bob said his team and son Kevin, a qualified boxing coach and weight lifting instructor, were looking forward to sharing their skills and Olympic training methods.

“The academy will provide opportunities for talented boxers to compete in competitions, as well as being a great way for anyone who simply wishes to improve their fitness in a supportive and developmental environment,” he said.

Stourbridge College students such as Aaron Dando, who recently completed his BTEC Introductory Diploma in Sport, are particularly excited about the new venture, which provides the chance to combine studies with boosting personal fitness and boxing specific training.
