Sporting Master Class

7th March 2008

A group of pupils from Sledmere Primary School had a sporting master class at Dudley Sports Football Club recently.

The 10 & 11 year old boys and girls were given coaching tips from Stourbridge College students, activities included coaching in football, tag rugby and cricket.

Accompanying the pupils Tony Moody said: “The children have very much enjoyed their experience today; it’s been a break from preparing for STATS and the chance to develop their sporting skills.

“We would like to say thank you to Stourbridge College sports team for providing this excellent opportunity.”

The event was organised as part of the students BTEC Nationals Diploma in Sport course and Andrew Blakely Stourbridge College sports tutor said “There is a double benefit from this type of event, our students plan, organise and implement the activities and the children get great coaching tips and fitness advice.

“Stourbridge College has excellent links with local schools and we are delighted that we could support Sledmere Primary School in this way.”

Following the training session the youngsters watched part of the football match between Stourbridge and Matthew Boulton Colleges with Stourbridge winning 4-0.
