Former Leukaemia sufferer, Steve, from Worcester, had a Bone Marrow transplant twelve years ago and has been busy raising awareness of organ donation ever since. He is sponsored by the Green Bike Company (Worcester and Halesowen) and Echelon Cycles (Pershore).

Steve took Gold in two cycle events, the 5km Time Trial and 10km Road Race followed by a Gold in the 5km Donor Run. He then took Silver in the 400 meter track race the next day. He said: “Both events were hard fought so my legs were tired but seeing all the donor families walking and running in costumes really lifted me and spurred me on. It was my best performance ever at the British Transplant Games and this helped the Birmingham Transplant Team to take the Rose Bowl trophy for Best Team Performance. I really want to thank Ian Moseley from The Green Bike Company and Tim Wood at Echelon Cycles for their continued support.”

Steve is waiting for his confirmation letter to be selected for the World Transplant Games which will be held in Sweden in 2011. Find out more about the British Transplant Games by logging onto www.transplantsport.org.uk or www.wtgf.org.
