Course Information


Level 1: BTEC Introductory Certificate in Travel, Tourism & Hospitality

There really is something for everyone. No formal qualification needed to study this course. This is a One year course where you will gain Two Btec Introductory certificates. One in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality and One in Business, Retail and Administration. So if you are unsure which area of the Industry is for you or you have an interest in any of these areas, this could be the course for you. The course will gain you a wide range of skills giving you knowledge and experience for several areas of employment.

The course is practical based and is assessed purely on course work (including displays, assignments and posters). To support the skills you will require for the world of employment, you will also have IT, Literacy and Numracy support throughout.

  • Working In Travel & Tourism
  • Using Displays in Travel & Tourism
  • Customer Service
  • Social responsibility at work

BTEC Introductory Certificate in Business, Retail and Administration

  • Introduction to Retail
  • Working in Business & Retail
  • Personal Effectiveness

After completion of this course, you will also have the opportunity to progress onto one of our Level 2 courses in either Business or Travel or simply seek employment.


Level 2: BTEC First Diploma in Travel and Tourism

If you don’t quite reach those GCSE’s you wanted or you want some practical training for the Travel Industry then this is the course most suited to you. It is a One year course where you will complete 6 modules which include:

  • Customer Service in Travel
  • European Holiday Destinations
  • The UK Travel Industry
  • Planning Visits
  • UK Travel Destinations
  • Marketing in Travel & Tourism

With these modules you will gain some all round experience and skills for working within the Travel Industry as well as having the opportunity to take additional Industry qualification in being a Resort Representative, Presentational skills and Languages.

The course is designed to highlight the practical skills needed for the industry and the course is assessed purely by course work (including displays, assignments and posters) and practical assessments.

After completion of this course, you will also have the opportunity to progress onto our Level 3 programme if this is your aspiration. This will then gain you a higher level qualification and access to higher education if you wish.


Level 3: BTEC National Certificate in Travel & Tourism

If you are looking to venture into higher education or showed star qualities in your GCSE results and need a new challenge then the Btec Level 3 course could be for you. The Btec National certificate is a vocational qualification recognized in industry and equivalent to 2 A Levels on completion of Year 2. It is course work based allowing you to take responsibility for you own research and learning. It will include practical and creative activities and assessments such as welcome meetings, coach transfers, display work, posters, assignment work and World Travel Fair’s.

On achievement of the 6 modules in Year 1 you will complete the National Award and on completion of another 6 modules in Year 2, you will gain the full National Certificate qualification.

  • Business and Retail Travel
  • Holiday Representatives
  • Residential Visit
  • Events and conferencing

You will also have the opportunity to complete additional qualifications in Retailing, Travel Agents and Air Cabin Crew as well as having the option to take and additional AS in for example a language.


Travel and Tourism - BTEC National Diploma

If you show an excellent achievement at GCSE level and definitely want to pursue your education on to degree level then the BTEC National Diploma will offer an exciting challenge to you. Like the BTEC National Certificate, the Diploma is well recognised in industry but will also allow you to get ahead of the field when applying to university. It is also coursework based like the certificate and runs over 2 years. The main difference being that you will study 18 modules plus 2 additional industry based qualifications during this time.

It includes a variety of assessments over the 2 years like the certificate, including practical demonstrations, presentations and role play as well as creative and report based assignments.

On completion of the course, emphasis on progression will be placed on university applications and industry related jobs.

  • Sustainable Tourism
  • Work Experience

Additional qualifications include NCFE portfolio based courses in Airport Passenger Service Agents and Cabin Crew.
