Firelighting Team Building Event at Kinver Scout Camp

This event was probably the last thing that travel students expected to be doing as part of their course. They were briefed in advance about the event and faces started to drop at the mere mention of wellies, buying and cooking raw ingredients, eating al fresco from a campfire.

They arrived with trepidation and a little bit of apprehension (as did the travel staff!!!) but it didn’t take long for the 2 1st year groups involved to get going and start trading ingredients to make their lunch. The students had to prepare a selection of vegetables, potatoes and put together in a cabbage leaf with some mince meat and wrap in foil. They were then encouraged to cook their creations on an open fire and await the results.

Students also enjoyed a selection of marsh mallows in melted chocolate and bananas cooked with chocolate buttons.

It was a fantastic team building event for the students involved and students commented that they had really enjoyed it, “it wasn’t what I expected at all” (Milly Saunders L2), “Its been really good” (Ruth Jones L3) were just a few of the comments.
