Services to Schools – giving you a flavour of what college life is like

Caroline Northway, Student Support Services Co-ordinator: “We are working with local schools constantly throughout the year to provide a whole range of information on what Stourbridge College has to offer. Our team is on hand to help you find the course that’s right for you – whether it’s through presentations, parents’ evenings or just giving you a taste of what to expect when you come here.”

This is what we do:

  • College Presentations - We can come along to schools and give presentations outlining what courses we offer, what the entrance requirements are, what we offer in terms of facilities and what kind of support you can expect as a student at Stourbridge College
  • Careers Events and Options Evenings – We attend these events to talk to pupils and parents about the qualifications available for 14-16 and post 16 year olds and answer any other queries
  • College Visits and Guided Tours – We can arrange for you to visit the college to find out first hand what college life is like and about the courses we offer
  • Work Experience – Because the college has real work environments we may be able to help you with your Year 10 Work Experience placements
  • Drop in Sessions – We can provide a drop in service for you at your school, if it is Advice and Guidance you need or questions answering you can pop along to chat with us
  • Parents Evenings – We can come along to these to discuss course options with you and your parents, guardians or carers
  • Specialist Talks and Master Classes – A specialist lecturer from the college can visit your school to tell you more about a particular course area including giving you more detail about course content, success rates and career opportunities
  • Year 10 Taster Days – Come and experience two days of tasters across all the curriculum areas and see what college life is really like
  • 14-16 Courses – There are a range of qualifications for 14-16 year olds ranging from Construction to Health & Social Care. We can help you find the best course for you. Contact David Griffin on 01384 399770 for Construction enquiries and Sarah Wagstaff on 01384 399672 for Health & Social Care and Public Services enquiries.
