Answers to Common Questions

Q – What if they miss Summer School?

Q – What if they change their mind about subjects/courses?

A – This isn’t a problem! Contact our Admissions Department on 01384 344634/344641/344519 and they will be able to help you.

Q – What happens if we are on holiday during enrolment?

A – Contact Sallie Gilbert in Student Services on 01384 344362 and she will make alternative arrangements for you.

Q – What happens at enrolment?

A – We check the GCSE/A Level results to ensure you meet the entry requirements, check the enrolment forms and ensure we have all relevant information such as next of kin details, email addresses and up to date mobile telephone numbers.

Q – What if our GCSE results are better than expected?

A – That’s great news! We can discuss options of moving onto a higher level programme, where appropriate. On some vocational programmes, they may need to acquire some basic skills first.

Q – What if GCSE grades are disappointing?

A – When they come along to enrol we will provide you with as much advice and guidance as we can so they can still achieve a level of success without having to struggle

Q – What support is on offer when they come to college?

A – We offer lots of support in terms of Health & Welfare and there’s additional support from Personal Tutors who are available to help with study skills and time management.

Q – What do they need to bring when they start?

A – Pens, A4 writing paper plus any specific equipment listed by their Course Tutor. In order to ensure that students are safe at all times, everyone wears a college ID Card whilst they are on the premises and this must be on display at all times.

Inspection Information

Stourbridge College was last inspected in November 2006 and was judged to be ‘GOOD’. We’re expecting to be judged again very soon and this could happen at any time. As we only get three weeks notice, it’s important that we’re all prepared.

This means that inspectors may want to talk to students about their experience at college – they may stop them in the corridor, they may sit in lessons and they might want to sit and chat with them and ask for their opinions on all aspects of college life.

Our Personal Tutors will talk students through the process in more detail once they start college.
