Online resources
To access Online Resources log on to the computer, click on Moodle and select Library & Study Centre. All online resources will be listed as E-books, E-periodicals, E-newpapers or E-dictionaries and reference books.
What are on-line resources?
Online resources are learning tools that are accessed via the Internet. They contain essential information to aid learning, including reference materials and academic journals.
Stourbridge College subscribes to the following online resources:
Gale info trac
Gale Info Trac is a collection of newspapers and journals available through two on-line databases. Info Trac Full Text Newspaper Database and General One File both offer facilities to perform advanced searches and give the user the function to email and print articles.
Info Trac Full Text Newspaper Database is a collection of newspapers including Broadsheets, Tabloids, Regional titles and International titles. Titles include: The Times, Independent, The Telegraph, Birmingham Post, Evening Standard, New York Times and International Herald Tribune.
General One File is a source of academic journals/ magazines offering subject specific journals with articles available for an extensive range of topics including, Business, Law, Sociology, Psychology, Art, Health Care and Sport.
Gale Virtual Reference Library
Gale Virtual Reference Library has a database of books for multidisciplinary research. The E-books available have been specifically selected for the students of Stourbridge College.
Oxford Reference Online – The Premium Collection
The Oxford Reference Online – The Core Collection contains about 100 dictionary, language reference and subject reference works published by Oxford University Press. With easy to use cross-searchable databases and fully indexed titles, Oxford Reference Online offers a wide range of subjects and information.
Reference titles include; A Dictionary of Twentieth century Art, A Dictionary of Biology, World Encyclopedia, The Concise Oxford English Dictionary, A Dictionary of World History, plus many more.
IHS
IHS (Formerly Technical Indexes) allows access to standards, regulatory, product and supplier information suitable for use by students studying in the area of Built Environment.
FENC – Further Education National Consortium
An extensive portfolio of learning resources delivered on-screen, interactive format or in a more traditional format (paper).
