Students create designs for Dubai company
A chance meeting with a designer sent a Dubai based company in search of talented textile design students at Stourbridge College.

The Glasshouse Ltd, Dubai, produces decorative glass panels for use in commercial buildings throughout the Arab Emirates.
Michael Guy of the Glasshouse contacted Stourbridge College lecturer Anne Timms with an exciting proposal for textile students to design a new range of glass panels.
The brief was to develop a series of images which could be opaque single colour designs. These in turn will be etched into glass to create visual textures.
Anne Timms said “The students are studying for a Higher National Diploma which is franchised from the University of Wolverhampton and this project will form part of their portfolio of work.
“They have worked hard to meet the deadline and have come up with a stunning set of designs. They have drawn inspiration from a number of natural textures but had to keep in mind the commercial reality of what the client requires.”
Digital mages will now be supplied to the Dubai company to be transformed into glass panels.
