The six members of staff have completed a Retail NVQ level 2 qualification under the government’s Train to Gain initiative. Manager Sarah Walker said: “It made good business sense to ensure that everyone achieved this level 2 qualification. We studied at home and in the workplace so it did not interfere with the day to day running of the business. It created good team spirit with staff helping each other if they struggled.”
Polish born assistant manager, Anna Davis, said: “The course has given us all a lot of confidence; it was relevant to what we do and has helped us in many ways. We are all really proud of our success and keen to progress to a level 3 NVQ.”
Train to Gain is an integral part of an ambitious communications campaign, ‘Our future. It’s in our hands’, from the Learning and Skills Council, which aims to inspire people to take control of their future through learning and to play an active role in achieving their full potential.
Stourbridge College Assessor Robert Jarrett Said: “It’s been a pleasure to work with this group; they have all worked hard to achieve their results.”
