British Army Recruits Stourbridge College
Stourbridge College is pleased to announce that it has been selected as the only FE College in the Dudley Borough to roll out the new Army FE Bursary Scheme.
Starting in September 2008 the new scheme aims to raise the skill levels of Army recruits and prepare them for employment in the British Army. It will enable learners who are interested in joining the Army the chance to enrol on a full time one year course and learn a trade, receive £2000 financial support and an exciting job offer at the end of it.
Candidates aged between 16 and 32 must enrol and complete a level 2 qualification in any of the following vocational areas: Construction Trades, Health and Care, Building Services, IT, Business Administration, Retail, Public Services, Sport & Leisure, Creative Industries including Music, Performance and Art and Languages. An Army Mentoring service will also be in place throughout the course as part of this first-class scheme.
Vice Principal for Corporate Development at Stourbridge College, Elaine Giles said “This is a brilliant opportunity for the college, the learner and the Army. It will allow us to offer new students who are serious about joining the Army, the chance to earn money whilst learning and obtain a job at the end of the course. The Army will in turn receive new recruits with higher levels of achievement and commitment.”
