College Students Rock The House

Stourbridge College students rocked the house recently when they played a concert at the Hagley Road Campus as part of their music studies. The second year students on the BTEC First Diploma in Music performed on stage, singing live and playing instruments as part of their overall assessment.

The students played a wide variety of music from rap through to rock. Andy Glover, music lecturer at the college, said: “This is the time of year when our music students get to perform live in front of a real audience, putting their learning into action. The hall was packed out with proud parents and family and everyone put on a really good performance. There was a mixture of styles and something for everyone.”

The students covered a number of hits including Afternoon Delight (with a rock twist), Feelin’ Good and knocking on Heaven’s Door. Some wrote their own lyrics and music and they all played a wide variety of instruments from acoustic and electric guitar, saxophone and drums as well as singing live on stage.

Their next big concert will be held in April. Anyone interested in Stourbridge College’s music courses should check out the website: www.stourbridge.ac.uk/music.
