As a former hairdresser, Angela had been doing bar work since having her daughter. She decided to take an NVQ in Management after being appointed manager at the Bathams Pub, the Fox & Grapes in Pensnett.

Angela said: “The NVQ was great fun and I was able to implement all kinds of new working practices as well as refine others such as customer care skills, risk assessments and appraisals. I passed the NVQ early and am hoping it will open up lots of doors for my career in the future.”

Kim Babb, Director at Business Skills Stourbridge, said: “We have a range of NVQ qualifications on offer to suit all kinds of businesses and individuals and we can tailor make training where necessary. Angela’s NVQ was funded by the Government initiative, Train to Gain, and it shows what employees can achieve to further their own careers.”
