A Level Success Soars
Stourbridge College has had its best year for A Levels results with student pass rates soaring to new levels – especially in traditional areas. The college has achieved an impressive 99% pass rate compared with the national average of 97.5%, including 100% pass rates in most of its current A Level subjects – including Maths, English Literature, Geography and History as well as Psychology, Communications and Law.
Lynette Cutting, Principal, said: “I’m delighted that all the hard work of students and staff has paid off - I’m really proud of their achievements. It’s not just traditional subjects that have been successful we are also still excelling in Art & Design, Film Studies and Music Technology amongst others.”
Rosemary Slater, Chair of Governors at Stourbridge College, said: “Our results this year show how far the college has come in the last five years. Stourbridge College is now a popular choice for record numbers of students studying A Levels and our pass rates are testimony to our increasing levels of success.”
The college achieved Best Performing College in the Black Country based on an average point score per student in 2008 and this year’s results will further improve success rates across the board.
The college offers 33 different A Level courses for around 500 students.
