Colleges in the Black Country are major asset to regional economy - report

The significance of our college to the local and regional economy and its communities has been recognised in a major new study.

We are one of the seven Colleges in the Black Country whose vital role in providing education, skills training and business support - and their positive effects on jobs and investment - has been hailed in a special independent report.

US-based experts EMSI were commissioned to examine the impact the colleges have on the region’s economy. The study recognised the value of these established centres of learning to the region by enabling people to achieve their potential, raising the workforce skill base, empowering industry and commerce and stimulating the local economy.

In one financial year alone the Colleges in the Black Country accounted for approximately £702.9 million of labour and non-labour income in the Black Country, Birmingham and South Staffordshire which was equal to about 2.3 per cent of the total economy.
