Stourbridge College Childcare students cooked up a great plan to raise cash for Russells Hall Hospital’s Neonatal Unit – and the money raised was a real sweetener.

Lirie Uka, Alison Barratt and Jessica Butler baked and sold cakes at the college to raise £80 for the unit and they all went along to present the cash to the unit.

Alison, 21 from Stourbridge, said: “I came to Stourbridge College to re-sit my GCSEs and progressed onto a Foundation course which has allowed me to study Childcare. This is the second lot of fundraising we’ve taken part in and it’s great to know that the money we’ve raised will help babies in the unit.”

Karen Philips, Fundraising Co-ordinator for the Dudley Group of Hospitals, said: “I’d like to thank the students for their hard work in raising some money for the Neonatal Unit – every little bit helps towards caring for the babies on the ward.”

Angela Wilson, a Nursery Nurse on the Neonatal Unit was on hand to accept the cheque and chat to students about her job.
