Students Calculate Accounts Success
Second year students have shown they are getting ahead by successfully completing levels two and three of the accounting AAT qualification in their first year at Stourbridge College. They are now 2 units away from completing the AAT Technician qualification at the highest level which is 4 and equivalent to a degree.

Christine Carroll, Accounts lecturer said “The AAT Pathway course is on offer for school leavers and gives them the opportunity to gain a full Honours Degree by the time they’re 20. It’s a fast track to getting a degree early or finding a job. Five of the students hope to find employment in an accounts related role and are now very employable as the AAT qualification is well recognised and highly valued by employers. They have all worked really hard and have high ambitions to get ahead.”
The other students have been accepted onto university, some will go straight into the 3rd year of a degree at Birmingham City University, and others have conditional and unconditional offers for the 2nd year of a degree programme in Management Accounts. Students on the AAT Pathway course all came from different educational backgrounds, Ellie Fallon some came straight from school, and others including Kate Belworthy had previously attended other colleges to study AS levels and decided to change courses.
Josh Bentley, 18, said: “I am hoping to go to Birmingham University in September to continue my studies, I feel I have really progressed since starting the AAT course, Chris Carroll has been really helpful and I have definitely improved through each unit of the course.”
