College Lecturer Gallops To Success
Stourbridge College Biology & Applied Science lecturer, Jo Corley, has shown she can win hands down by securing over 300 rosettes and numerous trophies for her efforts in Show Jumping and Cross Country Jumping – and she’s galloping ahead to try to raise cash for the Mary Stevens Hospice.

Jo, from Stourbridge, has been entering competitions for the last four years. She competes on her former rescue horse, Tosca, who she’s had for nearly eight years, riding on behalf of, amongst others, the South Staffordshire Riding Club, the Bromsgrove & District Riding Club and in Mercian Team Events.
She said: “I compete mainly in local competitions and at county level. I’ve always loved horses and riding ever since I was a young girl. I’ve asked staff and students at the college to pledge cash for every rosette I win up until the end of term and we’re going to donate the money to our local charity, the Mary Stevens Hospice. The collecting tin also doubles up as a swear box, with students being fined 5p every time they slip up! I’ve already won my first 2 rosettes and more competitions lined up in the future.”
