Three Peaks Challenge

Stourbridge College Catering Manager, Paul Hayes, is aiming high for Cancer Research by doing a Three Peaks Challenge in May.

Paul and his friends, Andy Timmins, Paul Phillips and Ian Mander are taking up the challenge of climbing the UK’s three highest mountains – Ben Nevis in Scotland (1344m), Scaffell Pike in England (978m) and Snowdon in Wales (1085m) over a twenty four hour period.

The challenge, which is being funded mostly through Stourbridge College’s Student Union, will see Paul and Andy drive to Scotland, then to the Lake District and then onto Wales.

Paul said: “My youngest brother suffered leukaemia when he was two years old and with help from Birmingham Children’s Hospital he made a full recovery, a work colleague suffered with the same cancer but wasn’t so lucky. Cancer charities need as much as they can to help sufferers of all the different types of this terrible disease.

“We are aiming to do all three peaks within twenty four hours and are currently in training every weekend. I ask people to offer their support and give generously.”
