Students Support The Local Community
Painting and Decorating Students from Stourbridge College’s Advanced Technology Centre in Brierley Hill have helped out the scouts with twenty seven students and four staff giving a scout hut a makeover in just four days!

The scout hut was blue and in desperate need of a new coat of paint. The students decided to paint the hut in the 12th Kidderminster (Blakedown) Scout Group Necker colours, green and yellow.
Alan Spargo, Group Secretary who has just celebrated 20 years of service, said: “The new colours look great and the club house now showcases our club’s identity and defines us as a group.”
Jos Cooper, Beaver Scout Leader, said “The boys have done a fantastic job, and now it’s a club house we can all be proud of - they have even painted the furniture inside and all of the window boxes. It’s never looked so good!”
Stephen Tomkins, lecturer at the ATC and Scout Leader asked students to volunteer to take part in the project, he said: “The project has been mutually beneficial as it’s given the students a live project, and real work experience that has saved Blakedown scouts a lot of money in labour costs. The students have really enjoyed the experience and we are now being contacted by other local scout groups asking if we can help them out with a coat of paint.”
