The ten week course which includes thirteen hours of study per week can eventually lead to a Level 1 Hairdressing or Barbers course due to start in September.

The new introductory course is available for 16-18 year olds (with assistance of up to £30 per week subject to means testing) and anyone over 19 who is interested in pursuing a career in hairdressing.

Julie Zangaro, Lead Tutor, said: “Over the last two years the hairdressing course has gone from strength to strength with many of our students finding work in high street salons and some even starting up their own businesses.”

Kim Babb, Director of Business Skills at Stourbridge College, said: “We work with lots of local franchise partners and deliver all kinds of community based courses across the region. This is a great opportunity for 16-18 year olds who might not be in employment or have had the chance to get any qualifications and I’m really pleased to be working with St Thomas’s Network on this cutting edge initiative.”
