College Health & Safety Quiz Highly Commended

Stourbridge College’s Student Health & Safety Quiz has been judged Highly Commended Runner Up in the Association of College’s national 2010 College Champion Award competition – the results of which will be officially announced later this year at the AoC National Health & Safety Conference.

The Health & Safety Officer at the college, Gill Hill, submitted the successful awards entry which outlined the aims and objectives of the project. She said: “We wanted to increase general and trade Health & Safety information, practices and law amongst our Construction and Motor Vehicle students and we were delighted that last year’s quiz was so well received. The Health & Safety Executive even cited the quiz as exceptionally ‘good practice’ which is why this award is like the icing on the cake for us.”

Steve Green, Health & Safety Consultant at the Association of Colleges, said: “The Association of Colleges wants today’s safe learners to be tomorrow’s safe workers. Stourbridge College’s quiz is a great tool to get learners interested and involved – in a fun way.”

The college is holding this year’s Health & Safety Quiz, which has been extended to cover Care and Science, throughout March with the Grand Final taking place on Tuesday 3rd May 2011 at the Advanced Technology Centre in Brierley Hill.
