Students from Stourbridge College were digging their way to success by taking part in the Malvern Spring Gardening Show. With the help of Construction and Assisted Continuing Education (ACE) students, the college exhibited an Alchemy Garden which will be transferred to the college’s new Art & Design Centre in Brierley Hill.

Stourbridge College students from Assisted Continuing Education (ACE) based at the college’s Hagley Road Centre and Leasowes Centre in Halesowen celebrated the end of their year in style – with two of the students lifting crowns for the 2011 Prom King and Queen Awards.

The Prom was held at Amblecote Royal British Legion and 90 staff and students attended the Masked Ball themed party which celebrated a year of enrichment activities, including sports tournaments with other local colleges and numerous trips. The Prom King and Queen were Tim Philips and Emma Lloyd who completed the ASDAN Employability course.

Lynn Glazzard, Programme Area Manager for ACE, said: “Staff from several areas of the college gave their own time to chaperone the event and to fundraise to subsidise ticket prices – this was a marvellous end to another very successful year and everyone enjoyed the occasion immensely. In particular we’d like to thank Balloons on Strings for their help in making the evening a great success.”

ACE runs highly supported vocational courses for school leavers and adults with additional learning needs. Anyone who may be interested in improving their personal and employability skills should contact Lynn Glazzard on 01384 344532 for more information.
