Hospitality Academy Off to a Flyer

Hospitality Academy

The students from the new Stourbridge College Hospitality Academy in partnership with Kidderminster Harriers have been given glowing reviews following a whirlwind start to their Apprenticeships.

With less than a month under their belts the students, serving a paid apprenticeship in hospitality and catering, have already negotiated a busy period of three high-profile pre-season football fixtures with supporters enjoying hospitality packages up in The Academy, along with a special ‘Friends & Family’ evening and annual sponsorship event.

With so little time to settle the youngsters have performed admirably under the watchful eye of Hospitality Manager, Yeohan Cunnington. He said: "The hospitality team have worked so well as a team during this busy period and have set the standards high for the future here at The Academy.

"The team excelled in their positions and still have a lot more to give.

"While setting this venture up was not an easy task in such a short timescale, I was impressed with the apprentices enthusiasm and drive to better themselves while giving a service to be proud of."

The sentiments are also echoed by the customers who’ve sampled the earliest offerings of the Academy’s set-up.

John Davies, owner of Hire It! In Kidderminster has attended an evening in the Academy an noted: “What they have provided after just a few short weeks is brilliant and it is so pleasing to see young people working hard and enjoying themselves whilst they do.

“I would fully recommend The Academy Experience to anybody and will certainly be taking some guests there myself to try and help spread the word.”

Fellow Kidderminster businessman Gino Ruffinato of MG Sportswear added: “The food there was first-class and of a real variety.

“The students are clearly willing to keep on learning and listening to feedback and there were plenty of smiles which are also important!”

The Academy is still offering Apprenticeships for 16 to 18 year-olds, preferably school leavers. Those interested in a potential career in hospitality and catering can attend a recruitment event at Kidderminster Harriers’ Aggborough Stadium on Friday, 12 August from 9:30am.
