Dan, 17 from Brierley Hill, is studying for a second year BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3 in Sport and is a member of GKR Karate based in Russell’s Hall. He has competed nationally for England and Team GB and took part in the World Cup which was held at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham in July. Competing against representatives from Australia, New Zealand and America, Dan won the Bronze Medal for coming third in the competition.
He said: “My Dad is a karate instructor and when I’m 18 I intend on getting a job as an Assistant Instructor to help train others in the sport I love. In 2013 I hope to be able to compete in Australia and I can’t wait. The new Fitness Suite at Hagley Road is great for sports students as we get experience training other students whilst studying on the course.”
Dan hopes to continue his education by studying Sport & Exercise at university.
