Dudley Festival of Music Dance And Drama

Scene from The Weather Garden

The Side By Side actors and dancers from Stourbridge College came away from the Dudley Festival of Music Dance And Drama with first prizes on Saturday 13th March. The adjudicator for the Dance/Drama class, Janet Tuckett, said that their story of The Weather Garden was "a fascinating and delightful presentation".

The drama group presented a 20 minute extract from the performance they are hoping to take to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August, called The Wrong Garden. David Fonville, the adjudicator said that, "this was an innovative piece with splendid interaction of the group".

Both groups were given the highest level of outstanding with 90 marks each.

The drama students are now working towards performing at the Worcestershire Theatre Festival on the 3rd of April, where they will show the complete production for the first time. This includes mime, signing, dance, mask work and video. They will be performing at various events in the Borough after that and continuing to put on events to help to raise the 17 thousand pounds they need to go to Edinburgh.

The dance/drama group will also be performing at Dudley Festival again on March the 28th, with a Dance, this time in the dance section of the festival.
