Susan’s arts accolade
Stourbridge College tutor Susan Wallin has won an arts award in Dudley’s first Oscar-style ceremony honouring people who have demonstrated exceptional service to the community.
Mrs Wallin won the Cedric Hardwicke award for her performing arts group Side By Side. The group puts on regular shows and members have rubbed shoulders with well-known faces at Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
The group plans to raise £17,000 for a return trip to the Fringe this year.
Mrs Wallin, a tutor at Stourbridge College, said she is thrilled with the award, which reflects the hard work of her students.
She is also a member of Times Delights, a group of entertainers who perform in and around the Black Country.
The runner-up was Bob Cotton, of Cot Lane, Kingswinford, a member of Wordsley Amateur Dramatic Society, who has helped to raise the profile of drama in the area.
