Funky fairies perform magic tricks
WE ARE THE DREAMERS
Performance at the Edinburgh Fringe
15th to 19th August 11.35am at Augustine’s
In this modern interpretation of A MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM Max the Milkman has been turned into an alien and is entertained in Titania’s ‘love pod’ by fairy magicians.
Highly acclaimed for their unique style and high standard of performance, SIDE BY SIDE have won numerous awards at festivals and achieved recognition for their achievements in raising the awareness of the contribution that can be made by people with learning disabilities to the performing arts.
‘WE ARE THE DREAMERS’ explores the themes of love, illusion and desire, through mime, dance, physical theatre and dialogue to an eclectic mix of popular song, classical and original music.
The characters are 21st Century stereotypes with Theseus and Hippolyta becoming Posh and Becks style celebrities and the ‘rude mechanicals’ characters from the community – a lollypop lady, a postman, a dinner-lady, a policeman etc.
This is our third time at the Fringe and the first time the actors have spoken – previous productions used only mime and dance.
Commitment, dedication and perseverance are the hallmark of this group of actors who continue to break through the boundaries of expectation.
